Rising global temperatures

The worlds ecosystem is changing. Excess heat in our atmosphere has caused global temperatures to rise over time, a result of the massive increase in the levels of greenhouse gases being emitted by the ever growing human population across the planet.

Global warming is arguably the biggest longstanding crisis that is facing mankind, with climate change causing more frequent and severe weather across the globe, including but not limited to intense drought, storms, heat waves, rising sea levels & melting glaciers. The result of these changes causes havoc and destruction to communities and livelihoods, and threatens the extinction of some of the most vulnerable animal species.

in 2020 the tropics lost 12.2 million hectares of tree cover, with 4.2 million hectares of that from primary rainforests

A growing population

Human population on earth is growing by an average of 81 million people per year, with such an increase comes increased pressure on the ecosystems around us. It has never been more important for humans to change; we are already starting to see a shift in mindset amongst the developed countries worldwide with a recognition of some of the issues we are facing globally.

Despite that, in 2020 the tropics lost 12.2 million hectares of tree cover, with 4.2 million hectares of that from primary rainforests. To put that in perspective, the latter is an area the size of the Netherlands. The net result is 75 million tonnes of CO2 that is not being removed from the earth’s atmosphere due to the deforestation. Trees are the unsung heroes of the planet, they provide jobs for over 1.5 billion people worldwide, supply humans with medicines & herbal remedies, house complex ecosystems, home to thousands of animal species, provide building materials & fuel for heating and cooking.

Planting a tree for every watch sold

Here at Bruder Watches, we recognise we all have a responsibility to try and leave the planet in a better condition than we inherited it. From our inception we have always aimed to be a sustainable fashion brand and have taken steps to become a carbon neutral business. We are thrilled to have partnered with ‘JUST ONE Tree’ a non-profit initiative that is removing C02 from the atmosphere through global reforestation.

For every Bruder Watch that leaves our UK warehouse, a new tree is planted in locations across the world including Madagascar, Haiti, Kenya, Indonesia, Zambia, Nepal & Mozambique. Furthermore, we only use recyclable materials to ship our watches across the country, and we pay our couriers to offset C02 emissions on our behalf.

All of this means you can purchase any one of our high quality timepieces guilt free. But we always want to do more, do you have an idea of what we can do better as a business? Get in touch, we would love to hear from you!
